Latchways’ Man-Safe for Ladders systems provide outstanding personal safety for individuals working on any type of fixed ladder.

Such is the simplicity of the design concept that the ManSafe for Ladders system can be installed to follow the contours of the structure and so maximise its safety value in a working environment. Equally, the proven effectiveness of the LadderLatch unit with its unique Latchways star-wheel component provides workers with the security of being constantly attached to the system while also having both hands free to go about their duties. If a worker should fall from the system, the LadderLatch unit immediately locks onto the system cable and arrests the fall.

In the event of a fall, a worker attached to a ManSafe for Ladders system is far less likely to be injured during the fall arrest process compared to a fall from a traditional hoop system. Whereas hoop systems prevent a worker falling backwards off a ladder, the hoops themselves present a significant threat if the worker should fall down a ladder.

Vertical life line System
  • Will support up to four workers on a single line.
  • LadderLatch unit rotates freely through the intermediate cable guides to give the user continuous hands-free protection.
  • In the event of a fall, the LadderLatch unit locks onto the cable and arrests the fall.
  • Energy absorbers built into the system protect the end anchors from excessive loads should a fall from the system occur.

»Top Anchor- This is installed at the top of the system and has an in- built safety factor of 2.5 times the potential load generated when a fall occurs. The system energy absorber is attached at this point.

»Constant Force Energy absorber- It ensures that the load applied back to the structure and the climber in the event a fall is limited to a maximum of 6 kN. A two or four person version is available, with both units having a red fluorescent indicator showing a fall has occurred.

»Intermediate Wire guides- These brackets support the cable, ensuringthe correct stand-off distance from the structure is maintained. The spacing of the intermediates is dependent on the height and location of the structure. An extensive range is available to cater for all types of structure.

»Bottom Anchor- These bottom brackets provide a swage-free systemtermination and an integral tensioning device. At the correct cable pre-tension, the unit’s indicator disc will spin freely. Unauthorised system adjustment is prevented through the use of captive security bolts.

» Cable- An ø8 mm 1 x 19 stainless steel cable that has a unique identification system. The cable is factory tested to check its physical properties and to ensure performance is consistent.

» LadderLatch unit- The LadderLatch unit secures the climber to the fall protection cable via the chest D-ring, which allows free movement up and down the structure, but immediately locks onto the cable in the event of a fall.

» Top Anchor- This is installed at the top of the system and has an in-World’s only Hand’s free Fall Arrestor rotates freely through intermediate cable guide.The best Technology in the league with minimum fall Arrest reported.
